Moving to Oklahoma City Can Be a Fresh Start 08/07/2018By Julie DeLong, A-1 Freeman Moving Group Whenever you move to a new town, it is a shot to get a fresh start. You may not know a single person. While this might be scary at first, it is also a shot to work on who you are. You should explore all the great things to do in Oklahoma City, make new friends, and focus on becoming a better version of yourself. Get Organized After you pack up all of your belongings to move to Oklahoma City, you literally get to begin from scratch in your new house. This is a chance to get things in order once and for all as you begin to unpack all the boxes. If you have always pondered a new layout in your living room or bedroom, now is the time. You can change up the colors, the arrangement, and even purge some things that you no longer want ahead of putting them away. Of course, it's definitely best to donate them prior to moving them – but this is an opportunity to get organized. Create "Me" Space As you unpack and move furniture around in your new abode in Oklahoma City, make sure that you set up a space especially for you. This can be your cozy spot when you have had a crazy day. No matter if it is a "man cave" or a book nook in your bedroom, design an area that you will enjoy spending time in. Do Something New Most people have activities that we have always wanted to accomplish. Perhaps you have always wanted to learn more about community theater or enroll in an art class. Once you are in your new locale, go for it. Find a studio or class that will help you with the training. It is an opportunity to do something different and meet some new people along the way. Break Bad Habits You may have a bad habit or two that you aren't proud of. It may be that you don't dust your furniture often enough or that you smoked at your old house. Regardless what it is that you need to modify, now is the time to do it. You are in a new residence, allowing you to commence from scratch. If you don't want to fall into the same habits, make the resolution to change. You might also want to leave yourself notes from time to time so that you remember why you are ditching those habits. Meet the Neighbors You may or may not know all the neighbors in your present block. Once you move, make sure that you make an effort to meet everyone. Even if some neighbors may make the first move to welcome you to the neighborhood, there is nothing wrong with introducing yourself and taking the initiative. Learning about the people who live closeby can be a great safety feature. You don't have to be best friends but it can be advantageous to have a contact who will watch out for your house when you are away and vice versa. Don’t forget that moving to Oklahoma City is only as worrisome as you make it out to be. If you know that you are relocating to a new town with the desire for a new beginning, it can be a positive boost. You may be excited to begin a new chapter in your life in Oklahoma City. Make a to-do list for your home and for yourself so that you keep in mind all of the things that you want to achieve. After you have officially settled in, you should then start on that list.
