We want to make your move as stress-free as it can be here in Oklahoma City, whether you are moving somewhere locally or long distance. That’s why we’ve write up a few tips and tricks for you need to pack up your TV.

First off, you need a box that’s appropriate for your TV. The perfect thing to use is the box that your TV first came in – if you still have that. If you threw it out, you can purchase packaging designed for moving flat-screen TVs from a hardware store or a moving supply store. You should get a box that is just a little bit bigger than the TV, but not by a lot; you don’t want the TV to move around when it’s inside. Transporting expensive and delicate items requires packing and moving experience, not simply large trucks or specialized equipment. At A-1 Freeman Moving Group our team of experienced movers is excited to help you with your move in any and every way you need, even if it’s just packing up your television.

Before unplugging everything, a great thing to do is snap a few pictures of the back of your television with the cords plugged in. This will make it much easier when the time comes to reinstall everything. After taking a picture, you can start getting your TV ready to pack up. Unplug it and take out the main power cord, then any other connecting wires and cords. Place all of them inside a bag together and tape this to the outside of the box. Sometimes there is a base you must separate from the television in order to pack it. If this is the case, put all screws and other parts in a small bag and keep it with the TV so everything stays together.

Once you’re finished, you can start to pack it up. No matter if you are moving far from Oklahoma City or you are just moving locally, it’s necessary to see that your television is completely covered. Get foam pieces to cover the TV screen, there will be some in your kit if you got one, or in the box that your TV came in originally if you are using that. The foam not only keeps the screen from being scratched, but it also keeps your television from bumping around in the box during the move. Secure the foam pieces with mover’s wrap or tape. Then use blankets or sheets to cover your entire television and prevent it from getting scratched.

When your TV is completely covered up it’s time to get it in the box! Keep the television upright and make sure it’s secure by filling in spaces and gaps with more sheets and blankets. This keeps the TV from shifting around in its box.

Set the box upright and put it next to other flat surfaced, sturdy furniture, including your mattress, dresser, or a bookshelf. Remember to put important cables with the TV, whether they’re in a bag taped to the side or in another box.

Then you’re all ready to go! Hopefully you have a moving company here in Oklahoma City to help you out, getting you across the country or your town quickly and safely, with all of your stuff intact. If not, A-1 Freeman Moving Group has got you covered!
